ĢƵ to Enrolled Agent (EA)
Welcome to the ĢƵ to EA program. The goal of the ĢƵ to EA program is to prepare you to pass the Enrolled Agent (“EA”) exam. In addition to preparing ĢƵ to EA members for the EA exam, ĢƵ to EA will be working with local accounting firms to assist members of the ĢƵ to EA program to get internships and/or hired full time.

Last Friday, Chancellor Barnes delivered the annual State of the District address at ĢƵ’s Fine Arts Recital Hall. Dr. Barnes emphasized the district’s commitment to fostering innovation and equity, reaffirming our mission to provide educational opportunities for all as reflected in this year’s theme, Students Are the Heart of Our Mission. She also led a Q&A session with the college presidents, emphasizing the importance of partnerships, career education, and enhanced student support services.
Two ĢƵ Students Receive Scholarships from Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society
Two ĢƵ students have received scholarships and recognition through award programs administered and supported by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Zifang Shi has been named a 2025 and a , while Thuong Nguyen has been named a 2025 .
From Stopgap to Gobsmacked: ĢƵ Alum Myron Soyangco’s Community College Experience
Myron Soyangco's journey into higher education began with disappointment.
After his parents suddenly announced in 2008 that his family would be moving from the Philippines to California, Soyangco had a decision to make. He had just graduated from high school in his home country with a stellar academic record, but it was too late to enroll at a four-year American university as he’d wanted to. His choices were to redo his senior year in high school (“and who wants to do that?” he says) or enroll at ĢƵ.

Criminal Minds and Compassion: ĢƵ Student Aleyna Luick Prepares for a Career in Justice
Irvine native Aleyna Luick arrived at ĢƵ (ĢƵ) lit by a spark of curiosity and the determination and resilience to stay focused on developing a clear vision for her future. A first-generation student herself, she had heard the college described as a “transformative experience” by high school counselors and former classmates alike.
Giving Back While Moving Forward: Steve Salinas’s Path to Success
For third-year ĢƵ (ĢƵ) biology and chemistry student Steve Salinas, success is not just about grades — it’s about creating opportunities, building connections, and giving back to the community. With plans to graduate this spring with an associate degree in biology (Steve already holds an associate degree from ĢƵ in chemistry), this first-generation college student is well on his way to a career in medicine.

On December 3, 2024, I welcomed over 100 attendees to the inaugural Partners and Pancakes Breakfast at the ĢƵ at ATEP campus, launching our yearlong 40th-anniversary celebration. The event brought together employers, advisory board members, community partners, alumni, students, faculty, and staff to honor ĢƵ’s legacy of student empowerment, workforce innovation, and community impact.
